In the automation market, a standard component is not always the most efficient solution. Often, adapting a system to an existing product involves compromises in terms of space, performance, or costs.
At Robox, we reverse this paradigm. Our custom products are created through a co-design process with the technical departments. We do not simply supply a component; we become your technology partner in developing solutions that integrate seamlessly into your production ecosystem, ensuring maximum mechanical and electronic efficiency.
Custom products for motion control are developed through active listening and direct collaboration. Every project is unique: we analyze specific requirements and develop tailor-made solutions, ensuring high performance and reliability.

The computational core of customized Motion Control solutions
Robox custom solutions can be developed based on SoM (System on Module) architectures. This approach separates the system’s computational core from the rest of the hardware: the SoM integrates the processor, memory, and basic connectivity into a compact, reusable module designed for general-purpose applications.
Customization is carried out through the carrier board, i.e. the auxiliary board that defines the system’s final use. This is where the interfaces, connections, I/O, and specific required features are integrated, as in the case of dedicated architectures based on μRP-2 or RP-3.
An additional advantage is the use of RTEX, the next-generation hard real-time firmware, based on a 64-bit multicore architecture. RTEX fully leverages the platform’s increased processing power to improve responsiveness, efficiency, and operational performance in advanced motion applications.
SoM programming is carried out through the RDE development environment. In this way, hardware, firmware, and software tools operate within a consistent ecosystem designed to simplify development and reduce integration complexity.

FAQ
What are custom products for motion control?
Custom products are solutions designed specifically to precisely control the motion of machines, axes, motors, and automated systems. Unlike standard products, they are developed or customized according to the specific requirements of the application, the machine, and the production process.
In our case, we focus specifically on programmable controllers for automation and motion control, configured or custom-built to integrate seamlessly with the machine architecture, communication protocols, number of axes to be managed, and required control logic.
These solutions provide greater flexibility, improved performance, and more effective integration compared to a generic system.
What are the advantages of tailor-made motion control solutions for industrial automation?
Tailor-made motion control solutions enable the development of more efficient, reliable automation systems that are perfectly aligned with the machine’s requirements. Compared to a standard solution, a custom system provides more precise motion control and more effective management of application-specific functions.
In the case of customized Programmable Automation Controllers, the main advantage is the ability to have a controller designed around the machine, not the other way around. This means being able to integrate control logic, axis management, industrial communication, and software functions into a platform built around the real needs of the system.
How to choose custom motion control products tailored to industrial applications?
It is important to start from the analysis of the industrial application and the performance required by the machine. Each motion system has different requirements in terms of precision, speed, number of axes, synchronization, communication protocols, and integration with the existing system.
The choice of a custom solution, such as a tailor-made axis control system, must take into account several key aspects, such as the type of application, required performance, machine architecture, scalability, and customization.
Relying on a specialized partner makes it possible to define the most suitable solution, reducing technical compromises, simplifying integration, and obtaining a more efficient, stable solution aligned with the real requirements of the industrial machine.
