PLUG-FEST EtherCAT Robox – Tsino-Dynatron
Communication via EtherCAT between ROBOX Motion Controllers and TSINO DYNATRON S7 servo drives has been successfully tested.
Validation objective
The testing activities were focused on:
- Verification of EtherCAT interoperability between controller and drives
- Validation of DS402 state machine management
- Testing of cyclic operating modes
- Verification of digital signal handling
- Test of interpolated axis synchronization
The objective is to ensure a robust and replicable integration in real industrial applications.
Test configuration
Hardware involved:
- ROBOX Motion Controller (master EtherCAT)
- Servo drives TSINO DYNATRON S7
- Multi-axis management with interpolated control
Topology:
- EtherCAT architecture with RP-2 acting as master
- Import of XML files from the RDE3 environment
Validated operating modes
During the Plug-Fest, the following functionalities were successfully validated:
- XML reading from RDE3
- CSP mode (Cyclic Synchronous Position)
- CSV mode (Cyclic Synchronous Velocity)
- DS402 state machine management
- Digital input reading
- Interpolated axis motion managed by EtherCAT RP-2 master
- POWER-SET operation
Results achieved
The tests confirmed:
- Stable and deterministic EtherCAT communication
- Proper multi-axis synchronization
- Reliable management of state transitions and fault conditions
- Rapid commissioning through automatic XML file import
- Full operability of advanced motion functions
The integration proved seamless, with no need for custom developments or specific software adaptations.
The validation of the integration between ROBOX Motion Controllers and TSINO DYNATRON S7 servo drives allows for a significant reduction of technical risk during design and commissioning. This translates into shorter start-up times, greater predictability of multi-axis performance, and the possibility to standardize the control architecture while maintaining flexibility in component selection.
