Motion control for food packaging: Robox on TecnAlimentaria

Robox is featured in the March issue of TecnAlimentaria Food Industry with an article dedicated to compact architectures for food packaging.

The article, “Compact architectures for food packaging”, explains how Robox solutions enable flowpack machine builders to combine high performance, compact design, and cost efficiency.

With the RDE development environment, flowpack machine development becomes modular and simplified thanks to dedicated object blocks (rc_chain, rc_film, rc_crimper), which manage the typical axes of these machines. The software tools allow users to configure, program, and simulate the machine, with a visual representation of critical components through 3D graphical panels.

From a hardware perspective, the Robox solution can be implemented using different architectures. In a more traditional configuration, the system is based on a central controller, Axioline I/O modules, an HMI, and servo drives such as RID20-E / Digitax M753, combined with motors and RMD (Robox Motor Drive) systems. This integration helps reduce both footprint and wiring, also thanks to the all-in-one-cable connection between drives and motors.

For applications where compactness and ease of installation are key priorities, solutions with a controller integrated into the drive can be adopted, as well as motors with decentralized IP67 drives that can be installed directly on the machine and connected in a daisy chain.
