In the July 2025 edition of Automazione News<\/a>, the leading magazine for industrial automation<\/strong>, Robox offered an in-depth perspective on two major trends shaping the industry: the integration of artificial intelligence inti development evironments and the accelerating drive toward miniaturization and on-machine automation.<\/p>\n\n

Daniele Delle Monache<\/strong>, Chief Operating Officer<\/em> and Danilo Riccio<\/strong>, R&D – Head of AI<\/em>, shared insights into how Robox is tackling these challenges with pragmatic and results-oriented strategy.<\/p>\n\n

<\/span>Integrating Artificial Intelligence into Control Systems<\/span><\/h2>\n\n

Artificial Intelligence, especially Large Language Models (LLMs),<\/a> is unlocking new possibilities for industrial automation<\/strong>. At Robox, we’re investing in this evolution by developing tools that offer real value through practical, business-focused applications.<\/p>\n\n

One of the most significant developments is a new generation of intelligent virtual assistants<\/strong> designed to support users in generating code using Robox\u2019s proprietary programming languages: RPL (Robox Programming Language), R3, and its successor R++. These assistants, currently in development, are intended to translate natural lenguage inputs into executable robotic code, with the goal of simlplifying the programming processor and lowering the barrier to entry for non-expert users.<\/p>\n\n

At the core of this innovation is a chat-based interface capable of interpreting user inputs, translating them into code, and automatically validating them in the background. This significantly reduces, or even eliminates, repetitive and time-consuming tasks, as confirmed by preliminary tests conducted with the RPL assistant.<\/p>\n\n

<\/span>Miniaturization and Embedded Automation: The Compact solution for Motion Control <\/span><\/h2>\n\n

In addition to AI, another key innovation driver is the miniaturization of control systems<\/strong>. As Daniele Delle Monache explained, the trend toward on-machine automation integration is gaining increasing traction across the entire industrial sector.<\/p>\n\n

This is where the new PAC uRP-2<\/a> comes into play, a compact version of the RP-2<\/a> motion controller<\/strong>, developed specifically to address this need. Recently delivered to Oversonic<\/a>, the device maintaings the performance of the previous generation while offering a significantly smaller form factor, making it ideal for integration in constrained spaces.<\/p>\n\n

<\/span>High-Performance Embedded Solutions: The Nidec Case Study<\/span><\/h2>\n\n

Another landmark project was developed in collaboration with Nidec<\/a>, a leading player in the drives market. For this application, Robox engineered a fully integrated control solution embedded directly into the brushless drive, functionally equivalent to the RP-0<\/a> series, capable of managing up to 32 axes via EtherCAT<\/a> protocol.<\/p>\n\n

The uniqueness of this solution lies in its full integration: the motion control system<\/strong> is no longer a separate module but an embedded component within the power hardware, optimizing space, cost, and wiring complexity.<\/p>\n\n

This convergence of power electronics and logical control represents another step forward in the evolution toward modular, flexible, and compact automation solutions.<\/p>\n\n
